Being sick and food thoughts

I am still fighting a bad sinus cold that started Friday night though I didn't start feeling the full effects of it until Saturday afternoon.

Been trying to eat throughout the day so that I can keep my strength up. With a sinus cold like this my balance gets all off because of the extra fluid in my head, so if I don't eat and keep my blood sugar up I get lightheaded/dizzy on top of that and its just not fun at all. Last couple days I've managed to eat my daily points (with the help of eating some cake). Depending on what I have for dinner I might actually dip into my weeklies for the first day this week (with the help of having an ice cream cookie sandwich for "lunch"; i did make myself some scrambled eggs for breakfast so I did eat something with some nutritional value). Sitting next to me is a 1 liter bottle that is 1/3 apple juice and 2/3 water. I can't drink plain apple juice often, but watered down apple juice is one of my favorite things to have when I'm sick. Its one of the few things that doesn't taste weird with sinus post-nasal drip, or at least doesn't taste bad.
I think that's one of the hardest things for me when I'm sick like this. Its not that I'm not hungry at all or don't want food, its that it all tastes funny and therefore isn't appealing (or is possibly nauseating) and so I struggle to find things that will work for me.

In other news, in recent blog I started following (Finding Radiance), the author/blogger Lori is having a contest for her readers to win Attune chocolate bars! :) Head on over and enter! And while you are there look around and her other blog entries.
I looked at some of the Attune chocolate bars in Hannaford the last time I was there, and didn't get any to try. A few days ago when I decided that I wanted to go up to Hannaford to do my grocery shopping so I could go thru their organic section, I put on my list to look at these again and to purchase a couple to try. I don't remember what flavors the store had, but I will see. I can always order some online from the Attune site. Besides the chocolate bars they also have some granola bars.
What is nifty about these little bars is that they have probiotics and prebiotics in them which are supposed to be good for your digestive system. Think Activia yogurt vs. regular yogurt. I love yogurt, but could not deal with the taste of regular Activia, and of course I can't eat or really even try the light version because of the artificial sweeteners in them.
[Aside from being intolerant of artificial sweeteners, I have to be careful with sugar alcohols, and even fructose/sucrose. I don't seem to have issues with plain/raw/brown sugar or honey]

Well that's all from here for now. Hopefully I start to feel better soon. Getting in all that exercise last week, snow storm not letting me weigh in, and now being sick, is making me feel very much in limbo regarding my desire to get healthy. bleh!
